Brand identity, proximity IoT devices, native iOS and Android apps, multilingual editorial system, and website: one ecosystem to make the Monte Sant'Angelo Municipal Library accessible to every visitor.
Biblify is the name we gave to the accessibility project of the "Ciro Angelillis" Municipal Library in Monte Sant'Angelo, a town with two UNESCO sites. The idea is simple: the same visit, for everyone. Visitors who can't see listen to the spaces through audio description, visitors who can't hear watch them in Italian Sign Language or with subtitles, children follow a route designed for them, and nobody has to look for anything — content opens on its own as you approach a stop along the route. Behind it is an ecosystem we designed end to end: brand identity, IoT devices installed in the spaces, two native apps, an editorial system for the content, and the library's website.
The problem
Bringing accessibility into a 15th-century Franciscan complex, with no invasive infrastructure and an audience ranging from children to scholars, including people with visual and hearing disabilities. Technically it meant making three layers talk to each other: the proximity devices, working over Bluetooth Low Energy and radio, which tell the app where the visitor is; the iOS and Android apps, which receive the signal and serve the right format — narration, sign language, audio description, kids' version — in the chosen language; and an editorial system that archives and catalogs multimedia content, routes, and variants for each visitor type, so the library can update them without shipping a new app.
What we built
- Brand identity from scratch: Biblify's name, logo, and visual system, consistent across apps, devices, website, and the library's materials.
- Custom-designed IoT hardware: proximity devices over Bluetooth Low Energy and radio installed along the route, with QR codes as an alternative access.
- Two native apps, iOS and Android: automatic content activation in proximity, tracking of visited spots, remote demo mode, no account and no data collected.
- Accessible formats at every stop: Italian and English narration, kids' version, sign language videos, subtitled videos, audio description. Preferences are chosen at launch.
- Editorial system with native multilingual support to archive, catalog, and publish multimedia content and routes dedicated to each visitor type.
- The library's website, with digital content and marketing materials produced by us.
